Winter in Kauns in Tirol
Snow as far as the eye can see
In winter, Tirol is transformed into a winter wonderland with some of the best ski resorts in Austria. Thanks to its central location in the Tyrolean Oberland, Kauns is the ideal starting point for embarking on your winter adventures. The ski buses take you to the region’s top ski resorts, and there are six of these here in the Tyrolean Oberland: the Kaunertal glacier, the family ski resort of Winterberg Fendels, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, Nauders, Venet and Ischgl-Samnaun. Depending on the ski resort, the bus ride from Kauns takes around 25 to 40 minutes.
However, our region also offers endless possibilities for fun away from the slopes: winter hiking and cross-country skiing in the nature park, tobogganing and a wide range of cultural activities, as well as opportunities to revel in pure relaxation. Your winter holiday will be anything but boring! Maybe you are you interested in attending a special event? For example, the Kaunertal Opening or the Spring Classics? Then book now and get ready for your winter holiday!

Our tips
for active sports enthusiasts
“Those who have taken up Nordic sports can look forward to the Hubertusloipe trail in the Naturpark Kaunergrat. The high-altitude trail runs from Gacher Blick, with an ascent of approx. 3 km up to an altitude of 1,665 m, and then mostly downhill with a few short, uphill sections. The perfect place to enjoy unspoiled nature and clear your mind at the same time.”
“The moderately difficult high-altitude trail through the Pfundscher Tschey takes you to a winter wonderland. With slight ascents and descents, the three-kilometre-long trail leads past traditional mountain huts and barns that are typical of the region. Whether you prefer the classic or the more sporty skating technique, the total altitude difference of 60 metres can be easily tackled with a certain level of fitness.”
to Gogles Alm
֧“A popular winter tour that my dad used to take part in is the ski tour from Fließ to the rustic Gogles Alm, where you can tuck into a traditional Tirolean meal. If you prefer to leave your skis at home, you can also hike up on foot or with snowshoes, rent a toboggan at the top and then whizz down.”
